First Visit
Pull up at any time. After a brief orientation, you’ll be exploring the vertical world. The gym is designed for every ability level. No experience is required.

The Steel Shop is located in the historic Frenchtown neighborhood of St. Charles. You can find us behind The Foundry Art Centre, just off of the Katy Trail.

Monday 2/6
Yoga: Slow Flow
Slow Flow is an opportunity to explore the calmer, more restful side of your yoga practice. In this class, students will practice about half the number of poses as a typical flow class. The pace is meditative, with an emphasis on calm in the body and mind. We hold poses longer, taking several rounds of breath in each pose, rather than moving quickly between poses. It's the perfect way to set a the vibe for the week ahead.

Tuesday 2/7
Intro to Climbing (Youth)
LEVEL: BEGINNER
This class is perfect for youth climbers (under 14) who want a structured introduction to climbing in the gym. After completing the class, your climber will know how to operate the gym’s auto-belay stations, climb on the bouldering wall and get a general introduction to rope climbing. Most importantly, your climber will learn the fundamental climbing techniques needed to be successful at the gym.

Lead Climbing 1/2
After you have become proficient at top rope belaying, this class will advance your skills. Lead climbing allows you to climb on all of our walls and gives you a more realistic climbing experience. Our knowledgeable instructors will help you untie from the top rope and tie into the sharp end in a controlled environment.
You will learn how to lead climb and lead belay. You will also learn how to utilize scenario-based belay techniques to provide the climber with a soft catch in the event of a fall.

This class is perfect for new climbers who want to use every area of the gym. So Fit: Early Morning HIIT
Challenge yourself in this interval-based, total-body workout. Push your limit with a variety of bodyweight, strength, and cardio exercises. Modifications for each exercise will help you reach your fitness goals in this early-morning, members-only class.

So Fit: Circuit Training
Explore, strengthen, and connect with your body through various forms of movement. Start with an extensive warm-up, then move into a circuit of exercises. Your circuit movements will primarily focus on bodyweight exercises, with added resistance for some moves.

Top Rope Belay
LEVEL: BEGINNER
In this class, you will receive an in-depth facility orientation and top rope belay instruction. After successfully completing the class, you will have an understanding of the skills needed to get you and your partner climbing.

Bouldering Skills
After completing our Bouldering Skills class, you will have the skills needed to begin a regular bouldering routine. You will learn how to properly fall onto a padded floor, warm up for and structure a proper bouldering session, and identify and practice skills. You will also learn about bouldering terminology and proper etiquette. We will help you overcome the social barriers to climbing and understand how climbers work together while bouldering.
Bouldering relies on padded flooring rather than ropes and harnesses for protection. Climbers generally only climb between 10 and 15 feet high. For that reason, no additional equipment other than the padded floor is needed. This class is ideal for climbers who are new to the sport and want to establish a dependable foundation of skills.

Yoga Workshop: Arm Balances + Wrist Care 101
In this workshop students will practice the fun and challenging arm balance poses of yoga. With many progressions and variations, any level of student is welcome, but the practice will be physically demanding with the purpose of strength building. This workshop will begin with an extended Wrist Care Warm Up and Cool Down that is great to integrate into other physical activities such as climbing, or even to relieve technology worn wrists and hands.
