Many people are intimidated by yoga out of fear that they are not flexible. If this is you – fear not – the practice itself will help you feel more relaxed and comfortable in your body. Our instructors at the Power Plant in St. Louis offer a wide range of movements, so you can opt in or out depending on your comfort level. Please notify the teacher of any injuries before class. This slow, intentional class invites you to soften, settle, and turn inward. We will move at a gentle pace, holding poses for longer periods to encourage deep release in the body and stillness in the mind.
Yin is a powerful, grounding practice that supports range of motion, joint health, and flexibility while nourishing the muscles and organs. This meditative style of yoga uses props like bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets to support seated and reclined poses, allowing you to settle in and hold each shape for 3 to 10 minutes. These longer holds gently target the deep connective tissues surrounding the ligaments, joints, tendons, and muscles.
