Scoring + Points

  • The Throwdown will be scored in the standard redpoint round format. The harder the climb, the more points you will receive. For example, V1 = 100, V2 = 200, and so on.
  • Every climb counts toward your score regardless of the category in which you are competing. For example, even if you sign up for the Advanced division, you may add to your overall score by climbing every V1, V2, and V3 in the gyms.
  • Every climb is part of the competition with the exception of climbs on the Elephant Wall and in the Gravity Lab.
  • You will only receive ONE SCORE per climb. Repeats of a completed climb will not add to your score.
  • Failed attempts should not be recorded. Points will only be awarded once you input the successful completion of a climb.
  • Points will accumulate throughout the entire competition, and winners will be determined by their OVERALL point total.

Boulders

  • You must successfully execute each climb from start to finish.
  • At the Power Plant, the finish of the boulder is the highest climbing hold on each climb.
  • At the Steel Shop, the finish hold will be marked with a “TOP” tag. If the climb does not have a “TOP” tag, the top of the wall is considered the last hold on the boulder therefore making it the “TOP”.

Ropes

  • You must execute each climb from start to finish with NO FALLS or BREAKS. If you fall during an attempt, you may continue to try the moves. However, this does not count as completion of the climb and no points will be awarded. This is a failed attempt. You must try again.
  • Routes that are “Lead Only” will have a higher point value. You must LEAD these routes in order to receive the higher point value. “Back-Leading” or “Following” on a lead route does not count.
  • You will not receive a bonus for leading a route that has a top rope station set up.
